NCP protests in the capital against the attack on Akhtar in New York

The leaders and activists of the National Citizens Party (NCP) have taken out protest marches in various parts of the country, including Shahbagh in the capital, to protest the attack and egg-throwing incident on National Citizens Party (NCP) member secretary Akhtar Hossain and senior joint member secretary Dr. Tasnim Zara, who are visiting New York, USA.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Committee organized a protest march program in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh in the capital on Tuesday (September 23) afternoon. Samantha Sharmin, Sarwar Tushar, Dr. Tajnuva Jabin, along with central leaders and activists of the party at various levels participated in it.

At that time, they criticized the government for failing to provide security for the tour program organized at the invitation of the interim government. They demanded punishment for those involved in the attack.

Demanding the trial of the Awami League as a party from the protest rally, NCP leaders said that the Awami League is continuously committing such incidents at home and abroad. Attacks are being targeted at the leadership of the mass uprising. Therefore, the trial of the Awami League as a party is the need of the hour.

On Tuesday afternoon, NCP leaders and activists protested in various parts of the country including Bhola, Barisal, Thakurgaon, Rangpur, Narsingdi. They demanded justice for the attackers of Akhtar Hossain and Tasnim Zara.

Incidentally, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Acting Chairman’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasnim Zara, and Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, accompanied by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to attend the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations, arrived at JFK Airport in New York on Monday. Then, Muhammad Yunus left through a gate surrounded by special security as the head of the government.

Eyewitnesses said that the BNP, Jamaat and NCP leaders accompanying the chief advisor were protesting against the Awami League leaders and activists while they were leaving with the general passengers. At that time, Awami League leaders and activists shouted slogans while walking alongside Mirza Fakhrul and Humayun Kabir towards the parking spot. NCP’s Akhtar Hossain and Tasnim Zara were behind the BNP leaders. The protesters at the airport tried to stop them. At the same time, they started abusing and threw a few eggs at Akhtar Hossain’s back.

Meanwhile, the person who threw the eggs has been identified as a Jubo League leader. He has been detained by the US police. He is also accused of trying to stab a BNP worker.
